Thank you to everyone who made the first Nebraska Walk for the Whisper a huge success. With over 300 participants, our first year did so much to help spread the word about the dangers of ovarian cancer.

Welcome to the website of the Walk For Ovarian Cancer presented by the Nebraska Division of the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition. Our site is designed to provide you information on our major awareness event, but also to provide information relating to ovarian cancer, as well as information on resources to assist you and information on events and activities of our Division.

Although ovarian cancer is a relatively rare disease, it touches many lives - husbands, children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends. Unfortunately, due to its subtle symptoms and rarity, most women know little or nothing about ovarian cancer. Whether you already have ovarian cancer, know someone who does, or have been fortunate thus far to not be touched by this disease, knowledge about the disease is a powerful tool for you. We encourage all women to learn about this disease, and to tell their friends and family and co-workers. Due to the almost silent nature of its symptoms, it is said that ovarian cancer whispers. This makes it all the more important for all of us to know what to listen for and how to listen.

The Walk For Ovarian Cancer is a run/walk event to be held along Zorinsky Lake in Omaha. This will be a family-friendly event that will include education about ovarian cancer, memorial wall, and survivor activities. The event will honor other Nebraska and Iowa women and their families who have been affected by the disease.
