National Ovarian Cancer Coalition

Nebraska Chapter

Event Information

The 2nd annual Walk For Ovarian Cancer will be held Saturday, September 20th, 2008, at Zorinsky Lake in Omaha. This event is the Division’s major fundraising event and signature campaign to promote awareness of the often-subtle symptoms of ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is 90% curable if caught in stage I or II; however, fewer than 20% of the cases are caught in these early stages. More than 25,000 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year in the United States and more than 16,000 will die. Donations will help support our programs year round by educating women, thier families and medical professionals to recognize the “whispers” of early-stage ovarian cancer and by advocating improved early detection methods and treatment.

Participants can choose from a 2-mile competitive run,  walk or fun run around Zorinsky Lake, or a 1-mile walk.

The 2-mile Competitive Run is being coordinated by USA Track & Field Nebraska. For more information on USATF Nebraska,
